Have you ever been so taken by a movie that your heart feels differently afterward?
That's how it was for me moments ago after I finished this beatiful film, Once. It is an independent film that was available in limited release in theaters this summer, but I was unable to see it. I anxiously awaited the Netflix arrival yesterday and was finally able to sit down and watch it this afternoon. There is this incredible simplicity, honesty and heart that you get in this film which you cannot get in the "big screen" movies. The movie is about "boy" who works at a Hoover repair shop with his father and on his off time he plays his songs on the streets of Dublin to the walker-bys. One fated day he meets "girl" who has passed him on many occasions, playing as he will for the public. They begin a friendship of music, playing and writing together.
This movie makes so much sense to me. Rarely do you find a movie that can do that to you, or at least for me that is. So I reccommend it.
I just finished downloading the soundtrack, which by the way is amazing, and am on my way to babysit for the evening.
With that said, please do go rent this sweet film for yourself...I am now in love.
