I'm in the middle of reading the cover story on Bed Gibbard for this month's Paste Magazine.
Ben Gibbard. Lead singer/songwriter for Death Cab for Cutie, inventor of The Postal Service, colaborator with Andrew Kinney on many a song and album, film score writer and also solo artist.
From reading this article I've come to find that he is a big fan of John Kerouac. In writing his latest album he seculded himself to Big Sur inorder to gain the perspective Kerouac took hold of when writing 'On the Road' and 'Big Sur'. Gibbard hoped to see the world through this beat poets eyes. An inspiration through one man's words and thoughts, another was influenced.

As this morning has passed- during the breaks between my faxing and copying
trip packets, answering the phone, saving the world...you know....I've gotten to read up on the life of John Kerouac. It's amazing the impression one person can make on another let alone a whole generation and the generation's after. His words, gathered from his thoughts and experiences written down later took up residence in the hearts and minds of our very own influencers. Movies, music, novels, poetry, etc...
Ben Gibbard I'm sure can be said to be such an influence on people my age today....I am quite of fan of his work and have just been thinking how great we change the lives around us. I have yet to finish the Paste article but surely will when I get home from work. This has undoubtedly been a jumbalaya of information and not very smoothly written or cohesive for that matter...but I just thought you might like to know. I like the lives of people and their stories- they interest me far more than dungeons and dragons.
Good Monday....
