There is something so very beautiful and sweet to me about the mountains.
Today I got back from a weekend trip to Asheville/Forest City, NC. My mom went to a spinners and knitters annual festival where all of the South Eastern fiber lovers get together to take classes and tour booths having to do with all things spinning, knitting, crocheting, weaving, etc. While my mom was having her day I met up with my friend Nikki of 10 1/2 years. Dang. Anyway we drove to Asheville to the land of hippies, artists and mountains. Basically all of the things that I can't get enough of. Okay so maybe not full on hippies, but I think you get the point. All of downtown Asheville had about 10 sidewalk restaurants and cafes, 20 art stores and galleries and countless people. This is without a debt the best time to come to western North Carolina. The leaves are changing and falling all over the winding roads. My heart couldn't have been happier, I promise that is one of my allll time favorite places. After seemingly walking around in circles downtown we decided to take the long way home and drove through Chimney Rock/Lake Lure. Many of you probably haven't even heard of these places though you may recognize a hotel in LL where they filmed part of Dirty Dancing. (It's an old hotel known for it's bottomless pool.)
We stopped alongside the windy roads and took a couple of pictures of the rocks and leaves and what not. Once again, my heart was rejoicing. Driving a little farther we reached Lake Lure where there's a boat/canoe rental dock and a gazebo a small pathway away. Just so you know, I promised myself when I was younger that I would get married in that gazebo in the fall...in the pictures you'll see why. I absolutely love that area and undoubtedly would like to have a house there someday. Just a quaint little cabin in the woods overlooking the mountains and rivers. That, my friend, is my hearts desire. :)
Moving on...today we drove back and listened to Eric Clapton, Midlake and Explosions in the sky coming through the mountains. It was indescribable. The leaves scattered on the road, the mountains covered in bare and colored trees- breathtaking.
Tonight is Mute Math and Eisley at City Hall in Nashville. Things couldn't feel better at the moment. Good times, good music...that's all I want.
